The historical centre of Cádiz is home to a number of superb souvenir shops in which you can buy gifts for friends and family back home. Selling everything from handmade ceramics and leather goods to cured meats and Andalusian olive oil, these are the best places to buy souvenirs in Cádiz.

Usted Está Aqui

Museum, Shop

Situated in the heart of old Cádiz, “You Are Here” is a shop and museum dedicated to showcasing artefacts made by local artesans, “with their own hands or, at least, their own nuerons” (as the shop’s website says). You can come here just to browse and admire the Cádiz-inspired art, but it’s also a great place to find a souvenir with a little class and originality.

Beached in Cádiz

The cleverly-named “Beached in Cádiz” is another place to check out if you’re after locally-made artefacts to take home as a momento or gift. In particular, this is the place to head if you’re looking for the hand-painted ceramics for which Andalusia is famous: you’ll find a selection of bowls, vases and plates painted in both modern and traditional styles.

El Rincón de Cádiz

The old town’s charming Plaza de las Flores is home to “The Corner of Cádiz”, a little stall that sells gifts such as jewellery, flamenco-style fans and little figurines dressed in typically-Andalusian attire. This is a great place for souvenirs on a budget and also if you want to practice your bargaining skills in Spanish.

Happy World Cádiz

Situated on the busy thoroughfare of Calle San Francisco, Happy World sells staple tourist fare at decent prices. Its central location means that it’s well-appointed for a pit-stop when you’re exploring the historical centre of Cádiz or its museums and art galleries, most of which are within a ten minute walk.

Lettering

Shop

More a kiosk than a shop, Lettering offers handmade leather items such as bags, keyrings and wallets as well as engravings and embroidery. If space isn’t an issue on your return trip, treat yourself or someone back home to one of the amazing pieces of intricately-carved wood that come in the shape of surfboards.

Mercado Central

Market, Market

Located right in the centre of town, Cádiz’s principal food market offers a lively and local environment in which to pick up a consumable souvenir. The delicious cured hams for which Spain is famous can be found in abundance here, as can the finest Spanish cheeses, olive oils and wines.

Calvichi's

Shop

One very satisfied recent customer said of Calvichi’s – a characterful little gift shop towards the northern end of the old town – that it justified his rejection of globalisation. Or, to put it another way, this is the place to go if you hate high street shopping and want a cool souvenir of Cádiz to take home with you. You’ll find quirky and handmade little trinkets, t-shirts and loads more at bargain prices.
